2017 Tile Design Trends

One month into the New Year and we’re already seeing new tile trends emerge. Discover with us!

The New Year has started, and we’re already one month into 2017. Here at Stockett Tile and Granite, we make the same resolution every year- to help as many people learn about the wonders of tile and granite as possible. So today we’re going to bring you the latest on new tile trends.

1. Wood-Look Tile

It’s a well-known fact that wood flooring is both beautiful and timeless. It’s an even more well-known fact that wood flooring is incredibly difficult to take care of. Numerous oil treatments, easy wear and tear- and don’t even get us started on water stains.

Luckily, wood-look tile exists.  Wood-look tile is manmade and new technologies have made the material so wood-like that it’s pretty tough to differentiate from the real thing. You get all of the beauty of wood with none of the mess. Instead, you benefit from the incredible durability of ceramic or porcelain. It’s perfect for wet rooms like kitchens and bathrooms.

2. Interesting Tile Layouts

Decorating is all about expressing yourself and taking a chance to mark your home with your own individual flair. So it’s no surprise that people across the nation are starting to reject traditional tile layouts in favor of something a little flashier.

Unique tile layouts are a cost-effective way to make your kitchen or bathroom pop. All you need are inexpensive tiles and a detailing idea.  Instead of something traditional like square or brickwork layouts, try something different like herringbone or hexagon. Shaped tiles are fun because you get a stylish look with minimum effort. The results could surprise you!

3.  Metallic-look Tile

If you want something unique for your floors but aren’t a fan of wood-look tile, metallic-look tile might be for you. Metallic tile takes advantage of new technologies to create something exciting and new. Glazed porcelain is used to achieve an understated metallic look with smooth finishes.

Metallic-look tile is available in a wide range of colors, not just the usual grey. Perfect for bathroom floors and accent walls, the tile manages to make a completely unique statement.

But don’t expect metallic tile to stay around for too long- it lacks the timelessness of wood-look or even textile-look (which is also pretty popular!).
